The "end-of-life" phase is characterised by de-energisation
of the transformer and at the same time its removal from the inventory for its sale or disposal
as waste. The "end of life" declaration is the full and sole legal responsibility of the owner. This phase can be reached due to specific critical problems or technical-economic decisions.
In this phase, Sea Marconi is able to support owners in the preparatory work for the sale or disposal of the oil-transformer system (and of its accessories) in accordance with specific regulatory and technical conditions, and contractual conditions between the old owner (seller), the new owner (purchaser), and any third-party operator.

- Sea Marconi is an international leader in the decontamination of oils contaminated by PCBs and the exclusion of critical problems through the free of charge transfer of oil to authorised operators and through the sale and recovery of the precious metals that make up the transformer. In 2014 alone, Sea Marconi performed about 4,200 tests to check the PCB content in oil.
- Sea Marconi is a third party operator that is independent of transformer manufacturers and oil producers.
- Sea Marconi conceives, designs and produces in-house the decontamination unit (MDU) that is used daily for the different treatments of oils and transformers all over the world (directly or through local partners). The technologies, processes and materials (patented) used for Sea Marconi's dehalogenation of PCBs in oil have been classified by the Italian Ministry of the Environment as the Best Available Technique (BAT) (Min. Decree 29/01/2007 – O.J. No. 133 of 07/06/2007)
